Fantastic Vacation! New Freebie Template Also

Our vacation was so much fun! The weather in Orlando was glorious, warm and sunny every single day we were there. The resort we stayed at was close to a Publix so I got us milk, juice, eggs, bread and cereal for breakfast and we of course ate elsewhere for lunch and dinner. Matter of fact our first day there we went to Outback Steakhouse which was also across the street and dove into a nice juicy steak. The Orlando Premium Outlet Mall was literally at our back door, as in we had a gate to walk over and just use our room key to let us back on resort property, so we hit that a couple of times to kill a few hours. Yes I did do some shopping, I hit up the Coach outlet and bought my first every Coach purse(s)..........deals were incredible! Got myself some Skeechers as well with a buy one get one half off. That was my shopping spree done, lol. The boy got himself some Vans, a couple hats and a pair of Skull Candy headphones that he just loves. No touristy type 'souvenirs' for us.

Attractions? Yep we did both Universal Parks, SeaWorld, Aquatica and a Pirate dinner and show. As for Universal I bought a two day one park each day pass, word to the wise buy a one day two park pass. Seriously we could have done both parks in one day, unless of course you want to wait hours and hours and hours for Harry Potter. The Harry Potter part of the Islands of Adventure park was at capacity by 9:15 am and they were handing out times to come back. So we lined up and got our time slot, with there only being two of us our time was only an hour and a half away. Time to go investigate Harry Potter...................OH MY GOODNESS it was nuts there! You could literally not move, people were lined up with an hour wait for butter beer. We took a look around, attempted to walk to the back, found it difficult to move anywhere, looked at each other and got the heck out of there. Ask me if it's great and I honestly can't tell you, neither of us wanted to stick around. I ended up upgrading our tickets and we went back to Universal Studios where we went on the Simpsons Ride (best ride in the park) and the Mummy Returns (another fun one) again. Honestly, Universal was fun but if I were to go back I'd just do one day and stick with Universal Studios, not go to Islands of Adventure.
SeaWorld/Aquatica----a blast!!! I bought the combo ticket which allowed us entry to both parks and it was good for 13 days after first use. In other words we could go as many times as we wanted. This was perfect! Spur of the moment one afternoon we went to SeaWorld for a few hours and visited some of the exhibits. I bought the $10 ticket that allowed us to feed Sea Lions, Sea Rays and the little Sharks rather than the $5 for each one. The shark exhibit is so cool as you walk through a tube with huge sharks swimming overhead. Of course a trip to the Penguin Emporium was on the list. I could have stayed all night and just watched them play.
Next day was Aquatica, SeaWorld's water park. I want to say that I went on every ride! Some were two person and others solo. B~man and I laughed and laughed the whole day. Our favourite was Roa's Rapids where you just go in and let the current take you around, and there is a good speed going on as well. We opted to wear the life jackets so you just lifted your feet and off you went. Think we spent hours there and probably where we got our sunburns. A definite must go to again for us. We headed back to SeaWorld for a couple hours to see some of the exhibits we didn't get to the afternoon before. Ticket has already paid for itself at this point.
Another visit to Aquatica and more fun in the water for us. We both decided that rather than a pool something like Roa's Rapids would be cool to have in your backyard as we again spent hours zooming and floating around in there. Later in the afternoon after becoming waterlogged we again hopped on the SeaWorld shuttle bus and back over to that park. This time we went just for the shows, but we only wanted to see the dolphin one and Shamu. B~man was amazed at the dolphins and laughed as Shamu and the other Killer Whales splashed the folks in the splash zone. We also had some fun paddling pink flamingo paddle boat around.
The Pirate dinner and show was a good time. It is expensive though but you are paying for the show more than the meal for sure. We were in the red section and our pirate's name was Jack. A large group of high school students were also in our section so we definitely had enthusiasm for our pirate on our side. There was singing, dancing, acrobatics, 'fighting' and audience participation for about two hours.
All in all........................a FANTASTIC week. Now it's back to work and we were greeted with cold weather, rain and possible snow flurries :(. Would love to go back next year but not sure if I can do it, going to see if I can somehow budget for it.

Vacation has begun!

First some bad news though :( Took B~Man in to the dr. today for her opinion on the shoulder. Official word, he is done for the rest of the season. We will be cheering very loudly from the stands at the last 5 games and hoping the boys pull it off to make the playoffs. Doctor said because he is still growing and the shoulder just not being a strong appendage she doesn't want to see him take a chance, hurt it again and this time it be serious or permanent. Makes total sense as he is only 13 and lots of sports ahead of him.

We are OFFICIALLY on vacation!! I am blogging from our hotel room as we await tomorrow morning and our flight to Florida. Crossed the border without any delays, which is why I wanted to leave late afternoon but before rush hour. We arrived about 3:30 and are just relaxing a bit before we head out for dinner. Next stop Orlando!

More Snow........Shoulder Update.....Insurance and Attack Cat

Seriously I am so over winter, bring on Spring. Woke up this morning to 4" of snow, buses cancelled and flurries through out the day. Just hoping for no weather problems tomorrow as we head over or Sunday, do not want a flight delay.

B~man's shoulder is feeling better. He has full range in terms of raising his arm but certain movements are causing some pain. First visit with the physiotherapist yesterday and all went well. They gave him his exercises to work on while we are away so he can strengthen that shoulder and we have 2 appointments booked for when we get back. Today I will be booking a doctor's appointment for when we return to see if he can get a return date to the ice. Physiotherapist says it will probably be a few weeks, may be rest of season :( but if he faithfully does his exercises and takes it easy he may be able to come back for the last few games. We are hoping last week and this week plus the exercises will help speed the healing process.

Oh and we have to see the oral surgeon when we get back as well *sigh* turns out the one tooth is coming in sideways and needs surgery in order to pull it out. Poor guy. His mouth will be beautiful when all done though and he has not complained one bit. Matter of fact he smiles more with the braces then he did before, that makes me happy.

All I can say is thank goodness for insurance! I am so fortunate to have benefits through my employer. I would have done the braces regardless, just cut elsewhere, but it is nice to have a portion of it come back to me. We also have a yearly amount for Physiotherapy so that takes pressure off as well. Now if only we could get some relief on the price of gas!

B~man has given the cat a new name..................Meow-zilla. It cracks me up and I love it. This all started the other night as we were sitting watching tv and the cat began attacking B~man's feet. Every time he put them back on the floor the cat would come at them. Now I think it is because his feet stunk thanks to this pair of skateboarding shoes that smell really bad and make his feet worse(they will one night just disappear). The cat was back at it again last night and I sometimes think my laughing eggs him on. Oh well it is entertaining. Now I ask, does this look like the face of a Meow-zilla?

He is a beautiful cat and I must add that quirky would be a good way to describe him. You can only pet his head or under his chin. He does not like belly rubs in any way, we know when he's angry with us as his ears go back and he squints. On the plus side......he's quirky and does have a personality, just not always a sparkling one, lol.

My March break countdown continues......2 more sleeps!! We actually don't fly out for Florida until Sunday morning but are heading over the night before so I'm counting that as our official vacation start.

Injury...........first hospital visit due to hockey on Sunday. B~man made a great play, a back check, a poke check around behind the net and BAM! Full steam into the boards. I hated seeing him lay on the ice, usually he pops up right away but not this time. I saw it happen so knew he had either knocked the wind out of himself or hurt his shoulder. 4 hours in ER in the town we were in and the result was a separated AC, we were sent home with a sling and a phone number for an orthopedic surgeon and notes for fracture clinic. The latter part concerned and confused me.....I didn't understand the need for a surgeon and fracture clinic for a separation. Monday I called our doctor and it was recommended I attend our local hospital for follow up. Off we go for another visit to ER.......yep ready for another long day. I explained what happened and why we were there. New x-rays as they couldn't access the ones from the other hospital (makes no sense to me why not) and some more waiting. It was ok though as we were sitting by some really nice people and a couple very friendly paramedics, made the time pass. The results............same, a slightly separated shoulder but he only requires physiotherapy.......?? Why the difference? I have no clue but I will take the second doctor's recommendation as he happens to be team doctor for the local junior team here............the team they get drafted to the NHL from, I'd wager a guess he knows a separated shoulder and appropriate treatment when he sees them, lol.

Kept B~man home yesterday for another day of rest, and I got my laundry done, bathroom scrubbed and living room dusted, he is also packed and ready..............I'm not though, tomorrow is when I'll get my stuff all pulled out. Also have to make arrangements with the ex to get Meow-zilla (our cat) over to his place to watch while we are gone.

A New Look!! Plus a Template.............free of course.

I am always so envious of the cute blogs out there and fully admit to being jealous of those who can do all the coding etc. I am not one of those people, lol. I did try looking at the code and try to figure out the sizes etc in order to do mine but it was just not happening, literally looked like a foreign language to me. I went to the Graffiti Chicks blog and bought their Blog it Your Way templates, picked my kit (Fly with Me by Ellie Lash) and off I went. Pretty happy with the way it turned out I already know what I would like to change. I miss having my slide show of my layouts on the side and would love to add some pretties down the side. Maybe I will make that my summer project.............customizing my blog or should I say learning how.

Science Fair..........this has been a thorn in my side for the last few weeks. The boy has known about it for well over a month and with many arguments it was finished on time. He finally decided on a topic as I made him sit with me as we perused the web for ideas appropriate for his age. Topic picked and off to buy materials for the experiments we went, thankfully not too expensive. Write ups and experiments were done Sunday, he completed the backboard and got it all put together on Wednesday night. Did I mention that it was due Thursday? Loaded it up in the car Thursday and off we went to bring it in. He presented it yesterday and said felt confident. The boy got B+ and A's on it!! While I am happy for him as he did work hard, it kind of blows me telling him he can't wait last minute and expect a good mark.

Now on to hockey. We are nearing the end of the season and the boys still have a chance at making the playoffs, it's slim but they are still in it. B~man plays defence and they are short right now with three of his defensice linemates out with injuries, needless to say it translated to a lot of ice last night. It was every other shift as we only had 3 and they pulled a forward back to make it 4. The whole team played awesome and it showed with a 3-1 victory over the first place team! A night off Friday to be a kid, go to the dance and sleep at a buddies house and back in the rink tonight and again on Sunday.

Well I still have nothing accomplished in terms of getting ready to go away. I'm feeling a mental health day coming next week so I can get organized, right now Thursday is looking good.. but it may be Wednesday.

March Break Countdown.....freebie template too :)

First of all I want to say thank you ladies for the comments about selling my rings. There was a company that was buying gold in town this past weekend and I did a bunch of my stuff in just to see. By 'stuff' I'm talking old necklaces, bracelets, odd earrings, little gold rings that I no longer wear and never will. Any way with the price of gold I walked out with $300!! I still have my wedding rings as I'm not handing over diamonds to only be paid for gold, kwim? To answer a couple questions, I did consider having them redone but the cost is unbelievable as all they can use is the diamond, so all new gold and setting.............way too much. I did consider keeping them for my son but really, what they are going to be for him? I guess he could put them away and one day give them to his wife or daughter. Who knows, it's not urgent and I may be over it in a couple weeks, lol.

March Break countdown is on!!!!! 11 days until departure and I am sooo ready. Well I really wish I was ready in terms of being prepared and organized but the time I thought I had has quickly disappeared. So next week will be burning the candle at both ends to get all my stuff done. Am thinking of a mental health day to get everything ready.........doesn't sound too good does it? A day off to prepare for some rest and relaxation. Oh well we'll see what I get accomplished, I am one of those last minute kind of people in some things. I won't be able to sleep and will get it all done in a matter of a couple hours.

Ramblings and a new template freebie

So is it wrong of me to want to sell my wedding rings? I mean they are just sitting in a little jewelery box doing nothing. I considered having my engagement ring reset and wearing it on my right hand but I don't think I could look at it without remembering. Unfortunately right now I'm looking at who he has become and not what he was. If I could see who he was then the memories would be different. Sorry if this is cryptic and not making much sense. The sad thing is I don't even want top dollar, just a fair amount. Honestly this is my way of recouping some of what I am owed and I'm sure deep down a way to get back at him :( I know not very nice of me is it?

OK, enough of that. Happy thoughts!! No wallowing in self pity and anger (although it does feel good to get it out, lol). Honestly I do have a lot to be happy about, I have a roof over my head, a working vehicle, a good job that most days I absolutely love, a fantastic son, healthy and loving parents, a brother I just adore and two of the cutest most sweetest nieces you could ever ask for. I have also just had my cancerversary, 5 years ago on Feb. 13 I got the official diagnosis and here I am with my risk rate going down each year **yippee**

On to the template. As you will see I am playing around with colours that I want to use when making my templates. I haven't quite found a combo that I want to stick with so you will see different ones I'm sure. You can click on the image to download or click below. :)

More Snow?!

I love the look of the white stuff, especially around Christmas but enough already! Now I realize we have not been hit anywhere near some places but I have had enough!! Yes I am aware that I have already stated that a couple times, lol. We had more dropped on us early this morning and supposedly a couple more inches are coming tomorrow. Sunday is supposed to be 45 and rain, what a mess!

A busy weekend for us with hockey practice tonight with games on Saturday and Sunday. Speaking of games, b~man had a fantastic game the other night. He scored a goal, blocked a couple really hard shots (has the bruises to prove it), owned the boards and skated his little heart out. The whole team played really well and the proof was on the scoreboard, it was a one goal win but against a top team. Hope the boys remember that when they play their game it's amazing what they can accomplish. Saturday's game is making me nervous as it was ugly last time we played this particular team. Cross fingers it doesn't end up that way again.

Countdown for vacation has begun!! We leave in 16 days!! Bring on the sun and some warm weather PLEASE. I am so excited and it's just that we are going away, first vacation in 7 years and the first one with just b~man and I.

Rest and Relaxation

I am so ready for some R & R and good old fashioned fun. All motivation has left me in terms of getting things done around the house. I'm talking making myself do laundry is quite a chore, we won't even discuss the dust that has taken over (note to self, do not buy dark furniture again). Seriously, I come home from work and want to do nothing but play on the computer or watch tv...........not good.

Need a spark, some fun, sun and laughs. Soon March Break will be upon us and I will be taking my first vacation in 7 years! Yep, the boy and I heading out to Florida for the week. It will be his first time flying so I of course booked a window seat for both ways for him :). No Disney because he has informed me he is too old (phooey) but we are going to hit both Universal Parks and I'm working on SeaWorld. His requests, are you ready? Breakfast at an IHOP and one at Denny's, lol. Seriously, my boy loves IHOP and I have a feeling if there is one close to our resort we will be there more than once during the week.

Also doing a 'me' vacation when we get back. I was tossing something around and kept finding ways to do it and then find a reason why I couldn't. In discussing the possibility with my massage therapist (who is a fab listener and all round wonderful person) I saw that I needed to do something spontaneous and completely out of character for me. I needed to quit being safe and take a chance...........I booked my flight to DigiScrap-alooza that Scrap Orchard is having. I am so excited at getting to meet the ladies whom I have conversed with, shared with, and laughed with for the past 3 years. Sharing a room with my two favourite cohorts will be a blast and I imagine lots of laughing.

I posted earlier this month (my only post of the year so far, lol) about template freebies and want to say thank you to the person who left me such a wonderful comment. Here is what I am intending as the first of more templates.

I suck, what can I say? I always have these wonderful intentions of keeping my blog up to date and I fail miserably. I honestly don't think about it and I really don't have much to say, a boring person I am.

Again, I will try to blog more often and I will offer some freebie templates if people are still interested in them, maybe a couple alphas here and there.

I'm off to see if I can learn how to customize my blog on my own.............wish me luck!

A Few Thoughts and Finally a Template

So much for me getting back at blogging. I have great intentions but then it all falls by the wayside. Part of it is time and part of it is my fear of not having anything to write about.

I'm not funny, witty or into deep thoughts at least not in my writing. Really I am quite uneventful and plain. Just being real here, lol. I go to work, spend 3-4 days/evening in an arena and hang out at home.

New Shoes and Some Scrapping News

Wahoo I'm back!! Two posts within two days, aren't you impressed?
20 school days and 29 sleeps (that of course is including weekends) and I can say school's out for summer!! It's been a good year and I should find out shortly if I'm moving on or staying where I am. Of course now I am second guessing my request to go to another school..............the 40 minute drive each way is getting to me and I always feel rushed when I get home thanks to a busy boy, lol. Oh well, we'll have to see what if anything is in store for me.

Orthodontist appointment for B~man went well today, all is progressing as it should. No news or meeting with him, just a wire change and we were on our way. On our way means a stop at the mall and food at Taco Bell. We needed to go there anyway as the boy needed new shoes, seems like I just bought the ones he's wearing but apparently that was 4 months ago (yes they are destroyed). So we check out the shoes, 'skateboard shoes' guess runners aren't 'cool' at the moment, maybe by fall they will be, who knows?! Off we go, he picks out a pair that he likes, my response? 'Those are butt ugly, how about these?' I got 'the look', he chooses a different pair but then he gets 'the look' as in 'are you nuts? I am not paying that much for a pair of shoes that you will have destroyed or outgrown in a few months'. A few other stores to see what else was out there and back to the ones I described as 'butt ugly' but the original ones he liked (and in my agreed upon price range). Black, gray, green and purple.............yep you'll know it's us.

Baseball season is upon us, well the first two games were rained out but they have managed to play 3. Looks like a good little team again this year, they have won 2 and lost 1, the loss was only by one run as well. B~man is pitching and catching so he is on cloud 9 as those are his favourite positions. Take me out to the ball game................................

Wow has life been busy for me lately. It seems to all hit at once, lol. I won't waste time with my boring little tidbits (although we've only been away from hockey for a week and I already feel lost). Sorry had to get one in :) Lots of digiscrap goodies in terms of sales and freebies though.

Been a beautiful week weather wise and I hope it's here to stay. I don't mind the snow but don't like that in between weather, you know when it's all gray and dingy. Seeing the sun shine and having the windows open for a bit was pure heaven...........get rid of all that 'furnace air' as I call it.

Watching Avril Lavigne's video from Alice in Wonderland right now. Gosh that girl is pretty. Of course my faves right now are Lady G (as in GaGa) and my always fave Pink. My poor son has to listen to me singing Paparazzi and So What all the time, poor kid. I say that because I can NOT sing, lol.

Who are your favourite singers/groups right now? Like everyone else mine change but I still have my old standbys who will never change, Aerosmith, Queen, Sheryl Crow, Bon Jovi (plus we have the yumminess factor). Speaking of Queen my mom and I are going to see It's a Kind of Magic on Sunday night. It's a guy who apparently is a fantastic Freddie Mercury impersonator, believe he's from Scotland, I can't wait.

Just to do a little pimping here, I'm hosting the Lottery Challenge over at Scrap Orchard, if you want to check it out. It was fun doing it, must be my month for challenges as I am also hostess for the Template Challenge over at Sunshine Studio Scraps on March 30. I am really pleased with the template I created for that challenge and it will see my blog shortly. :)

A Happy Birthday and a Template Freebie

I just want to wish a happy birthday to someone very special to me..................my brother. He is truly a wonderful person and someone I feel blessed to have in my life.
Wow that was pretty heavy huh?

So I am half way through March Break and as always I have accomplished nothing....zero...zip...nada. I'll go back to work on Monday and be angry with myself for not getting anything done. I spent the first couple of days pouting that I wasn't going anywhere, I so want to take a vacation. I must be responsible though and make sure my bills are covered for the summer when I am off work without a paycheque, sucks to be a responsible adult at times though. Hoping next year to take off though, or even this summer for a few days.

Bottom braces are on! I can't believe the difference in the top teeth already, they are now side by side. I didn't ever think that possible, still lots of work to do but definitely worth it. The B~man always smiled but now he smiles showing his teeth.
I am participating in March Madness over at Scrap Orchard and love the layouts that people have created for both of the challenges thus far. The second challenge was about pet peeves and it has been great fun reading what everyone has and how many are common. Lots of toilet paper rolls layouts, lol

Studio mgl has come out with another whopper of a kit. I mean wow!! You must check out Indomitable , this is just the kit but as Monica always does there are so many extra goodies you can buy separately or she has a couple bundles.

March Break and St. Patty's Day Blog Train

Yep it's finally March break (breathe a sigh of relief), a week away from work. Very much needed as everyone is getting cranky, me especially. Getting jealous of all the people who are taking off for the week as I stay here in gray, cold rainy weather. Oh well it could be worse, I get a week off to recharge.

I am so ready for some sunshine and warmer weather. We had a few beautiful days last week and it was so nice driving with the sunroof open and smelling the outside air. The grass greened up a little bit and I started planning my gardens and what type of baskets for my deck. Too early yet but nice to start thinking of flowers and planting.

This is a sad post tonight, a message to cherish what you have. Hug your children, tell your family you love them. Embrace them, hold them tight and laugh at the little things that drive you crazy.
A couple of weeks ago a vehicle lost control hitting an SUV head on that carried a father and his two sons. One of the sons died in that accident leaving behind a wife, 3 children, his family and friends.

A few days ago a little boy I used to work with lost his mother suddenly.............he lost his father a few years ago. Nine years old.

Hug them, kiss them and love them, life is so fragile and can be gone suddenly. Cherish what you have while you have it.

Olympics, New Prompt and a Free Mini-kit

All I can say is WOW! Our Canadian athletes are really working hard and doing our country proud. The long programme by Joannie Rochette was heart wrenching in so many ways. The grit, determination and heart of this young woman was incredible, her mother would be proud. My tv has been set on CTV and TSN for the past two weeks and I will be totally lost when these games are over..........4 more years until we have them again!! I know the summer games will be in 2 years but I love the winter games the most. 3 gold medals and a bronze on Saturday!! Wonder if the men's hockey team is feeling the pressure?

my favourite things to wear are;

my jeans--I love to wear jeans, although I liked wearing them a few years ago better (there was less of me to fit into them). I have a favourite pair that I am afraid are relegated to around the house/yard as they have seen better days.
sweaters--I am such a sweater girl. Love them! My favourite is a blue cotton one that I bought a couple of years ago. I was good though and cleared out a bunch that I no longer wear. Am waiting for the style to change again though and get rid of the tight fitting low cut ones and back to my fave loose fitting cotton so I can buy more, lol.
capri pants--bring on spring! My go to item in my closet is capri pants. I just love them, you can dress them up or dress them down. I can wear them from April through to October. Needless to say I have a good selection.

this was hard as I can think of more things................my SpongeBob pajama pants would rank in my top five for sure.

I have been working on this mini for a while and have finally finished it. The papers came easy and then I went into a funk and it didn't get finished. So now it is done and I hope there are enough elements to make it usable. Who knows, if people like it I may add on at some point. A new prompt and yay B-man

First of all I have to give a shout out to my son and his hockey team who won their game Saturday 4-0 (unlike team Canada who lost 5-3, yes I'm pouting). B~man got moved back to defense this season but they were short 2 forwards so he got moved up. Scored the first goal of the game and collected 2 assists..............and I wasn't there! :(

OK on to today's prompt. I thought this time I would do a list. A top 10 if you will; Your top 10 favourite foods.

shrimp--any way, I jut love them.
pasta--prefer a white sauce or blush to tomato
eggs--egg salad is my fave sandwich
brussel sprouts--I know, some may think of this as weird but I do love them
rice--I can just sit and eat a bowl of plain white rice with pepper
popcorn--who doesn't love it?
steak--grilled with Worcestershire sauce and sauteed mushrooms
Honey Nut Cheerios--not just for breakfast, great as a snack with or without milk

A journaling prompt and another template freebie

I thought it would be fun to do post a journaling prompt here and there. I need to brush up on my writing, something I used to do and has gone by the wayside.

here is a prompt for today: Your favourite book(s) as a teen/young adult
My favourite book is one I read when I was 14 years old, the title is ''Trying Hard to Hear You" by Sandra Scoppettone and was written in 1974It's about a young girl who tells of how her summer changed her life forever. Now it is a heavy subject as it deals with homosexuality and racism, but the book is not sexual or violent, but it describes how a group of friends deal with those two topics and how peoples lives are changed forever. It is one of those books that will stay with me forever.
Another fave of mine growing up was "That Was Then, This is Now"by S.E. Hinton. Yep I grew up in The Outsiders days and of course watched the movie over...and over...and over...and over again. Which of course was another fave book of mine.
Why do I remember these books so vividly? They all deal with subjects that are relevant today, the clothes and music have changed but so much is still the same. OK so those are some memorable books of my teen/young adult era..........matter of fact I may go see if I can find them for my son who will be entering his teen years in a few.
Now on to everyday life stuff, lol. I took my taxes in today to be prepared (I so hate doing them) and was very happy with the results. My refund will be enough to sustain us for the month of July. Oh let me explain a little, I work in a school and am laid off for the summer. Teachers are paid a salary but Support Staff are hourly so we are only paid when school is in session. Usually I put money aside each month to cover my time off in the summer but with B~man getting braces that has kind of put a kink in that. Should also mention that the ex hasn't been paying consistently and is behind due to his employment troubles, so makes it next to impossible to save. Anyway I can breath a sigh of relief as I know I'm all good for July and hopefully the ex's new job will last and he can start catching up. My goal will be to put that away to take care of August. Would be nice to use it for a vacation but a roof over our head, food and car payment are more important, lol.
Busy busy at the Olympics again today, I've skiied, done the bobsled, speed skated and curled. Whew, and then tomorrow is the BIG hockey game.........Canada vs. the US in men's hockey. That should be a game and a half. So I will probably be absent from the computer during game time.

Busy at the Olympics and freebie template

I'm exhausted with all these sports I'm working so hard at. For example just tonight I have snowboarded on the half-pipe, curled a few ends, speedskated, participated in a hockey game that went to a shoot out (think the neighbours could here us yelling) and am now figure skating.....whew, I can't take this.
So do I admit that I have two kits on the go right now but have papers done that's it. Am struggling with the elements, as in what I had was poopy and I ditched them all but one. What is in my head is not coming out at all.
I do have something though, a template. I was hoping to have something posted on Sunday but well...........reread the above paragraph only substitute whatever sports were taking place then, lol. You can click on the image or below to download.

Happy Lappy to Me!

I did it!! Went and bought myself a laptop today on my lunch break. Didn't get the one I had planned on, got a 17"screen instead that was on clearance as it has Vista and they are making space for new models. I'm pretty pumped and really like it so far, although I can't find a bag to hold it.
Still figuring out Vista but I'm sure I'll get there in a day or two. Now to get PS installed and my goodies loaded up.

It's a Snow Day! Laptop Potential and Template

We actually had snow, I mean real snow. About 8" fell yesterday and overnight so it was all pretty and white this morning. B~man was happy when I told him the buses were cancelled and he could have a snow day as well. He is a walker so technically should be in school, but I figured he could enjoy the day and snow. Now me on the other hand had to go into school as we don't close our schools, well let's just say I think the last closure was 10 years ago. It was careful driving this morning but on the way home roads were good for the most part, some drifting due to open fields but I can deal with that.

While I'm off rambling I need to relay a story from my drive home a few days ago. Only driving down country roads will you experience this. I turn onto my nice long piece of straight county road (as in real hard to do the speed limit) and have to stop. Why do I have to stop? Well because there is a flock of wild turkey's crossing the road. Those suckers are HUGE and ugly too. Naturally they take their time, I do get my cell phone out and snap a picture but the quality is icky and I didn't zoom in enough. So there I sit laughing as I watch these things crossing in front of me very happy for having to stop for wildlife as opposed to a traffic jam or accident. I like the city for things like food, shopping and entertainment but am quite happy living in my little town with WalMart and Canadian Tire being the 'big box' stores.

Major excitement as the Olympics begin today!! Love watching the luge (which they don't show enough of imo), bobsled, ski jumping..............and the hockey of course. Survivor also starts tomorrow night so I am extra pumped. Amazing Race on Sunday, the Daytona 500! wow am I a TV junkie or what?!

Cross your fingers as I may take the jump and hopefully buy a laptop tomorrow. Hoping I find what I want in the price range I want. I won't give up my desktop as that is truly my preferred means but want the laptop for portability............ok so I can chat and watch the a fore mentioned Olympics, Survivor, Daytona 500 and Amazing Race ;)

Well I have a template for you if you'd like it. I was hoping to get a little mini Valentine's Day kit done but time just is not on my side. Plus I'm kind of Valentined out, I may come up with something if time permits but I'm not holding out hope, lol. Braces, Blog Train and Freebie

I'm here again, wow twice in a month I'm on a roll, lol. Not much to say really just the daily pieces of life.

The braces on B~man are working wonders though. His front teeth are even! I mean they are in line with the other teeth instead of being all wonky. Can't believe how fast they have worked so far. We are hoping for the bottom braces on the next visit in March. Although that is going to depend on if his lordship has shaped up with the brushing. Yep I got hauled in at the last visit as sir has not being what he was supposed to with regards to brushing. I sat there seething (at the boy) as we have had all out war about this and I informed the orthodontist of this. Let's just say he is in jeopardy of treatment stopping...............goodbye $1000 I have already invested *sigh*. I didn't know whether to cry or leave him there. I'm hoping the message got through, so far so good at home (it's only been a week but better than nothing). The iPod Touch was taken away, the new shoes he 'just had to have' sat in the box in the living room for a week (funny as he put them on every night and stared longingly at them) and the biggy.............if the braces have to come off due to lack of proper care he can kiss hockey goodbye. Yep, I did it, told him that come registration in May I would not be forking over the fee for him to play if he didn't shape up and to consider it repayment for what I wasted on his mouth. Think that got his attention. It's not like his dad would pay as I'm still waiting for his portion from LAST year but that's a whole other subject. Ahhhh the joys of owning a pre-teen, now I know why my mother laughs at me.

On the scrapping front both of my fave places have things going on. Scrap Orchard is a stop on the ADSR again this year. I'm not sure which stop yet but I will post it once I have a for sure date. The challenges are awesome as usual and there is the charity kit, One Love that is screaming gorgeousness.
Sunshine Studio Scraps has undergone a change, a big change and we are working real hard behind the scenes to make it sunny again. There is a gorgeous grab bag, Lovers Walk with guests Flergs, Michelle Batton, and Sugarplum Paperie contributing and yesterday was a good old fashioned blog train that started on Flergs' blog.

I looked through my folder of 'kits in the works' and found this one that was all done just needed a preview. So here it is for the taking. Where have I been......welcome 2010!

hmmm, think I dropped off the face of the earth, lol. Truth is I got busy and I had some down time, not as in relaxing but 'down in the dumps' time. Just had to muddle my way out and things are looking a little brighter.
Not going to make promises about posting regularly or anything but I will try to be more consistent. I am hoping to get back in the posting freebies again, I have a few templates, some paper packs and my portions of the Wonder Girl collabs.
Well I am off as I need to get some sleep (one of my goals for this year) and I will hopefully be back tomorrow with some more news, updates, whatever :)

Welcome to November!!

Happy November!! Hard to believe that Christmas is only one month away. I'm not one who gets everything ready right after Hallowe'en, I'm more of a second week of December kinda girl, lol. A lot of that has to do with the fact we buy a real tree every year and I just don't get into in until I have my tree.

The beginning of November also brings with it DSD!! Yep, Nov. 7 is the big day......shop until you drop. I of course will be in the arena but will be scouting around for goodies before I leave and once I get home. I know my fave places will have things going on and sales but can't wait to see what else will be out there.

I have a freebie for you today as well. This minikit was made for the Scrap Idol grab bag over at Sunshine Studio last month but I thought I would post it here for anyone who would like it. I'm not sure if I'll have anything new as this month is very busy with hockey. It could end up being templates or just my portions of the WG collabs. Busy Busy Weekend

ok, can I catch my breathe? I will need a weekend to recover from my weekend. B~man had a hockey game tonight at 8:30. This was ‘the’ game as it was against his old teammates so pumped up is a great word. Good game, physical (not in a dirty play kind of way) and ended up in a tie. B~man played great!!

In a few hours I will be getting up to make some sandwiches and getting crackers and cheese together as we are off to a soccer tournament early in the morning. It is supposed to be freezing cold to boot…..not a happy camper am I. Doesn’t help that I don’t particularly like soccer. The home and another hockey game, but this one is on home ice.

Sunday I have a Breast Cancer walk and then home to take B~man to hockey practice. Somewhere I need to do laundry, clean the house and just relax.

Let’s not forget that I won’t be home next weekend either as we leave for a hockey tournament. So, guess the house isn’t going to get cleaned next weekend either, lol.

Someone send me the house cleaning fairy quick!!

Happy Thanksgiving and a little Reflection

Just want to wish my fellow Canadians a belated Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you all enjoyed time with family and friends and filling up on all the delicious food that comes with holidays.

Mine was uneventful.........we were in the arena on Sunday so we missed the family dinner at my brother's house :(. Although after hockey I packed B~man and his friend up and we headed over so they could have one final swim for the season (my brother cranked the heater up) before the pool was closed. It was very pretty as you saw the steam rise from the water and he had the blue lights turned on. It was cold outside so I watched from the window, not sitting out there, lol. My mom took pity on us and we had a turkey dinner on Monday at their house. Just a small turkey breast and of course the trimmings. It was the four of us, my parents, B~man and I but a wonderful time and I got my turkey.

So here comes the reflection part and if I babble just skip down as I do have a minikit for you, lol. As I look back over the past year and all the changes that have happened in my life I wonder if I'm further ahead, stuck in a rut or where exactly do I fit in as far as plans go. If I think real hard I can see gains but also see setbacks. It seems that once I think things are settled something comes along and unsettles them. Now I'm not complaining (maybe I am a little) but I think, no I know I'm ready for things to even out. Things have been very up and down since 2006.........yep the year the big 'C' entered my life, but I'm really hoping and feeling that 2010 will be the year things finally turn the corner for me. I can feel little things that give me that indication. B~man is very settled and happy, I renewed the lease on my condo for another year, my health is good as in no sign of the big 'C' returning (risk has gone down substantially as I hit my 3 year mark)..........so it's there I know the silver lining is just hovering above me. I need one more thing to materialize and I know I'm on the road to truly leaving the old life behind and settling into my new one.
Now to bore you with another reflection. This past year has also shown me hurt in a people sense. In terms of when you realize a person really isn't who you thought they were. I've always been a pretty good judge of character and am also very perceptive but I guess standing back and looking from the outside as opposed to the inside I saw. It's disheartening but I will chalk it up to another life experience and not let it affect things I enjoy or who I am as a person.

Scrapping News!! Ok here is where I dish on the little happenings of where I like to hang out.
Scrap Orchard--a huge product retirement sale. It stared on Sunday but is running until Wednesday. I scored some great items and plan on shopping again....gotta check the ole PayPal balance first though, lol.

Sunshine Studio Scraps--in the midst of their CT call. The hopefuls are uploading some wonderful layouts. Will be fun to see who joins the team

The DigiChick--have a wonderful workshop to help you with journaling. I don't think it's too late to sign up and I'm seriously considering it but time for me right now is something I don't have a lot of.

MIA but I do have a freebie for you

I know I have been MIA for the last month. I haven't really been gone, just extremely busy with going back to work. School is back in session which means my time is limited and to be honest I am exhausted when I get home.

Add to that the B~man is playing travel hockey again so we have practices and 2-3 games a week. I wouldn't have it any other way though, love being in the arena. The team and the parents are wonderful. He wasn't treated like the 'new kid' and has made fast friends. I grew up here so for me it's making old connections.

Speaking of school, he loves his new school!! B~man is enjoying walking to and from every day (granted it isn't really cold or snowing yet), I think it's the freedom to be pokey to be honest, lol. I also signed the permission form stating he may leave school grounds at lunch break which he has done a couple of times with his buddy. Tried out for and made the school soccer team as well and he has a girlfriend!!!!! I am so not ready for this...................he will be 12 in November *sigh*.

The top braces went on the beginning of September and all is well. Not quite sure when the bottoms go on, we have another appointment in a couple of weeks and will find out then. About the braces......he loves them. Yep, smiles more now then he did before but I think that's because his teeth were such a mess that anything is better. Can't believe how small and inconspicuous they are.

I just love seeing him so happy. If I ever doubted my move back to my hometown, seeing B~man so happy erases them for sure. My parents love seeing him and being closer as well, I must admit I do too. Now I just have to work on me getting a social life, lol.
Look at all of my babbling......must try to not be gone so long.

I am here!! Updated the blog

Yep I'm here. I have a long winded post and a freebie set for tomorrow. Today I worked on updated my blog for Fall. I love this time of year, the colours, the smells.

I am a sweater girl and any chance I get to pull on my fave pair of jeans (that happen to be tighter then they were last time I wore them) and a comfy cozy sweater I'm happy. I love the richness of the fall palette and the beautiful show nature gives us. I watched a squirrel running around my deck yesterday morning checking in the flower pots for a place to hide his goodies.

They say Spring is about renewal and new beginnings but for me that's fall. Maybe because it was this time last year when I sold the house and moved B~man and I back to my hometown and into our condo. Hard to believe it's been a year since I said goodbye to a house and community I had lived in for 14 years. No regrets, things are much better and we are happier, that's what counts.

As you can see I updated my blog.............don't you love it?!! I do, the theme is from Pixel Geek Designs over at Scrap Orchard and was sooo easy to do with the instructions that are provided. Back to work and some cool contests

Yep, summer is at an end for me I'm afraid. The last vestiges of staying up all night and sleeping all morning, eating whenever the mood strikes and 'doing' my hair means putting it up in a clip and off I go. School starts next week and I'm back in the building. I get bored mid summer and want to go back right then, but come end of August I decide there were things I didn't do and want to do now, lol.

I love fall though, the colours, the smell, weather, sweaters.........I am such a sweater freak, love them!!! Of course it also means the crock pot comes out for chili, soups, roasts........mmmmmm. Not right away of course as we'll still get really warm days in September. I guess I would have to say October is my favourite month then with all that I'm describing.

As I'm sure folks know, I'm a huge fan of Scrap Orchard and have been since day 1. Anyway they have two really cool contests going on right now that you can win some neat prizes, check them out and see if it's up your ally.

Well I have been a bad blogger again haven’t I? Sorry for being MIA but just a lot has been going on. I have been scrapping up a storm though which is good for me.

Oh My!!

Had the appointment with the orthodontist Thursday to let me know how much it's going to cost to fix B~man's teeth. I was nervous and anxious the whole way up there, my mind thinking of what will I cut out when I get the amount. B~man is listed as requiring 'comprehensive orthodontic treatment'.......in other words not just braces to straighten teeth. The poor kid's jaw doesn't align, he has a baby tooth up front that is still hanging on (he's 11.5), the two incisors haven't dropped, will require a gum graft in a few years (totally different specialty).............*sigh* I feel bad for the kid with all that he will be going through. In true B~man fashion though he's ready to go, and said he can't wait until he can smile and feel good about it (yes, I did the little *sniff*). It will be a long haul........almost 3 years but will soooo be worth it.

Off track I got didn't I? The cost...........let's just say I will be making a used car payment for the next 2 years. I can stop searching for good deals on a trip to Florida for March Break next year, lol.

Scrappping news---Studio mgl has this insane crazy sale going on. You can buy her whole store for $19.99.........CU included! It's only on until the 9th though so you better hurry.
Final layouts for the Battle of the Creative Teams at DSA are due on Sunday............eeeek I haven't even started!!!
What else am I up to? Oh!! I won a GC for one of the Studio Collectives over at SBG for my August Desktop entry, that was pretty cool. think I'm going to get Impressions of Whimsy.

Unexciting, Freebie Alpha

Yep, think the title pretty much says it, nothing exciting happening on my end.

Well the excitement was on the weekend where the B~man had his wrap up tournament for baseball. They didn't come to play Friday night and dropped a game they should have won, by the time the boys decided to wake up and play ball it was too late, lol. Saturday morning was different, they came to play and did much better taking their second game. They lost a heartbreaker for the third game by 2 runs. Shame of it is the team they lost to there are now questions as to whether or not it was a combined team. That team got knocked out the next game but it doesn't put our boys back in.......our kids were disappointed but handled it well. Our coach was awesome, rather than take our team off the diamond and not let our boys play he sent an assistant to speak to those in charge and had them play, great example!! He told them he understood their concerns (it was the kids who picked out the players that were from another team) but to play their best game and let the adults get this sorted out. Again, may I say kudos to you Coach Bob!!

B~man pitched and was throwing hard, he also had a 1-2-3 inning, putting all three batters out, 2 on bunts and the third on a blooper back to the mound. As parents we were disappointed our boys got the short end but also very proud of how they stayed positive and did their best.
Baseball is not over for us though as B~man has been asked to join the town's Select team and participate in a county wide tournament in a couple of weeks..........needless to say he was pretty proud of himself.

So that's about it for excitement.

On to the goodies, lol. Here is the matching alpha to A Little Edgy. Again this was previously available in the Sun Newsletter so if you receive that you have this alpha already, if not.....well here you go!! I have a couple of templates ready to put up and I'm working on another alpha.
Oh I of course have a few unfinished kits floating around the hard drive as well.........we'll see if I can focus long enough to finish them.

A Few Thoughts and a Freebie

Well I'm here with a few thoughts, nothing much but a little rambling. Why does it seem as though summer is passing me by and I haven't accomplished anything? When I return to work and everyone asks the age old 'how was your summer' I will yet again say 'good, didn't do much'. I so want to take off for a few days so we can at least say we DID something. *sigh* I hate that I am relying on someone else to get what is owed to me........yes the almighty $. I have some coming to me that is owed but waiting is killing me. I've been so patient, as in waiting since May that I'm starting to feel like it is never going to show up, that the person is handing me a big ole line of poo. OK, done, pity party over. All is good and will be good.

On to happier things :) . I am participating in the Battle of the Creative Teams over at DSA as part of the Pineapple Princesses (we rock by the way) and having a blast. This last challenge was a doozy but I love my layout. Our team communicates so well that it doesn't take us long to agree on something and come up with a plan..........shout out to my fellow Princesses!!!! Go take a look at some of the incredible layouts that are being uploaded ( but you can vote for us....Pineapple Princesses).

I wasn't anticipating being a non poster for a week...........so sorry, I've had good intentions and even have some freebies for here but alas I haven't gotten them uploaded to 4Shared. I've Been Bitten!

Yep, I swore I wasn't going to get into it but I think now I'm hooked. There was nothing on TV and nothing on the movie channel so I decided to see what was on HBO On Demand. Well I looked under series and found True Blood which everyone is talking about. I swore that I would stay true to my Anne Rice vamps Lestat and Armand (not the horrible movie either) but I decided I'd check it out, figured I'd watch the first episode and at least give it a chance. That was seven episodes ago!! Now I want to/need to finish watching season 1 and will move on to season 2 tomorrow/today, with the insomnia in full tilt this should be an easy task.

So I'm off..........sorry no goodies tonight, I took a bit of a break from photoshop yesterday :)

Summer Afternoon and Free Add on to Heaven Sent

My brother called me this morning asking what the B~man and I were doing today as he was inviting us over for a swim and bbq. B~Man was at his dad's and then headed over to a friends for another sleepover, I on the other hand was just going to be sitting here at home. So my parents and I headed over there this afternoon. It was a nice afternoon, dinner and turned into evening. I discovered a beer I actually don't mind drinking...........Bud Light with lime, may actually go purchase myself a little six pack (it'll probably last until Thanksgiving, lol)

On the way home I saw these dark figures in the field and slowed down the car, we stopped and watched 6 deer grazing as the fireflies were blinking away..............so peaceful and quiet. I could have stayed at the side of the road just watching for quite a while but I had my parents with me so we had to go.

I did add on to my portion of Heaven Sent, but only a little. If you participated in the monthly layout contest over at Sunshine Studio Scraps you will have all of this except for a few new elements. It's free so I guess you can download it again and just delete what you received :). I know it's heavy on papers but I have so much fun making papers and struggle with elements as I don't want to put 4 of the same thing just different colours, so it is a little scarce in that department. Anyway, enjoy it!! Hope you like it and maybe I'll get some mojo flowing and finish one of the other three I have started that are just sitting there. Hockey (yes I know it's summer) and a freebie template

We can breath a sigh of relief here in my house, the B~man had hockey tryouts again today and was pulled in by the coaching staff at the end and welcomed to the team. I have a happy boy who in his words stated "I don't have to live with the anxiety all summer now. Glad in August it will be practice and not another tryout". He'll feel a bit weird I'm sure when he plays against his former team but is excited at the new prospect that us moving brought him as well. Bottom line is he's playing travel hockey again and is very happy.

Ready for one of those 'oh no' moments? Last night I'm lazing around watching Big Brother and didn't have a productive day around the house at all. Meaning I didn't dust, sweep, wash the two pans that were in the sink or make my bed and I looked like blaaah. My landlord shows up with the two window screens I have been waiting for 2 months.......................one of them for my bedroom!! Ugh, I wanted to crawl in a hole. I mumbled something about having one those days where you wonder why you got out of bed and desperately hoped he didn't notice the bra that was half hanging out of the laundry basket.

I just wanted to say thank you to those who left kind comments about my first ever kit being posted on my blog, and to all who have downloaded it. I am overwhelmed, honestly. I really hope you like it and hope to somewhere run into a layout using it........please feel free to link me up if you do, I'd love to see it and of course leave some love. I'm hoping to put my portion of the original collab up this weekend but like I said I think I need to add some more elements, we'll see if the mood strikes me, lol.

Quiet day for me, the B~man went to a friends for the afternoon and overnight. I sat and watched Big Brother.............already know which ones annoy me, lol. Jessie being the 13th house guest, ugh! Couldn't stand him the first time around don't want to see him again, was hoping it would be Brian that got in. Oh well, we'll see how this plays out as the weeks go on.

My first free kit on my blog and rambling of course

The rambling first of course as I've rediscovered my poor old blog so I better use up the space for some words. Wow, holy run on sentence there, lol.
We did the orthodontist thing on Tuesday, um yeah, need a second job, a rich boyfriend or win the lottery. B~man needs braces, which I knew but turns out the problem is more than the obvious of severely crooked teeth and an overbite. His jaw is too small and not aligned properly add to that has an eyetooth that is somewhere up in the jawline as it has nowhere to go. I felt like a heel when he asked why I was just starting this now...........I stumbled about how I asked our previous dentist about it a couple of years ago and then I got very ill, all true but I still felt like a heel. The dentist seemed to understand and reassured me it wasn't too late but not to put it off much longer. We go back in 2 weeks for the diagnostics, where they will measure and all that stuff so I know what I'll be in for. That visit is going to cost me $375 (yikes!!) but they have lowered their price on braces so they will only cost me $5000 (only?!)............. the hopes of heading to Florida next March break will now be going into teeth *sigh* it never ends for me, lol. But the bright side is my guy will have his teeth fixed and can smile widely without being self conscious, well worth giving up any trip :)

Ok, I am taking the plunge here. I made an addition to my portion of the Wonder Girls collab, Heaven Sent (it was available at Sunshine Studio Scraps for the monthly layout contest). This is all new, so if you have the collab you now have some extras. I might put my portion up here but I'll have to make some more elements (lots of papers already, lol). Another gorgeous sunny day today.............and I hid inside and admired the warmth from indoors. How sad is that? Truth is the sun and I don't get along very well, you are talking to someone who burns through the sunroof in her vehicle. So as much as I like being outside, when I walk out and can feel the sun I retreat back indoors.

Today is the big day................the consult with the orthodontist for the B-man. *sigh* Not looking forward to the looooong list of expenses this is going to hit. That vacation that I have have been dying to take for the last three years is not only on the back burner, but on someone else's stove in another country, lol.

Anyway a friend (thanks Teri) brought to my attention some miswording in my TOU that makes it look like anything from is not S4H or can't be used for cards etc. That is so not me, lol. Please feel free to create cards, calendars and yes my stuff is S4H. If you would like a copy of my updated TOU then please email me (jayediddesigns att gmail dott com) or leave a message here and I'll make sure to send it to you. I will tell you that anything new from me will have the updated TOU in it.

I also want to give a shout out to Elaine.........thanks for the vote of confidence and the wonderful comment, I really appreciate it. B~man is doing the sleepover thing at a friends and I may just sit and addon to one of my projects and post here. Think I have four in the works right now, just need to be finished off, lol. I get going and then decide I'm bored with the colours so move on to a different one.

Although Big Brother starts Thursday night so my butt will be planted firmly in front of the TV that night. This is when I wish I had a laptop that was useful (can anyone say Dell Inspiron 1510....14 GB HD? Yep outdated or what?), didn't overheat and the battery lasted longer than 10 minutes. Laptop fairy please come and visit me, an nice pink Dell or the fancy white HP is all I'm asking for, hehehehe.

Productive and a Free Template

Summer came back!! Yep, the sun was out, blue sky and white puffy clouds. The temperature also climbed up to where it should be, warm but still more than bearable to keep the windows open. I love my AC but if I can have a breeze and windows open I'm all over it.

It did make me long for the house though with my fish pond and my laundry line. I could just smell my sheets blowing in the wind *sigh*. I am now bound and determined to find a way to construct a laundry line on my little space (can we say 15 feet) that I can put away so I may have my fresh outdoor smell bedding. Think I've figured out a spot it just means I can't sit on my deck while the sheets are drying and I could only do one bed at a time. But when then there's a will there's a way!!

Today was a bit better of a day I must say. Thank you Heather for the kind comment you left :)
I did another monochromatic layout today, all white except the purple flowers in my pics, very different for me but I felt like stepping outside of my comfort zone. The kit I used was Dreams in Colour: Light by Studio mgl (I might add all the DiC series is on for 50% off, individual or bundled) and I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Needed a little scrap therapy

Did a little bit of scrap therapy tonight. Have been feeling a bit out of sorts lately and today was worse, just have some things going on I need to get sorted out. The hard part is some of the 'junk' is beyond my control and the other is something I think is small that I'm just making into something it isn't because of all the other 'junk'. OK am I even making any sense? Just feel like last month I was almost on top of the world and now I'm below sea level..........
I work hard, and give my all but sometimes it feels unappreciated and taken for granted. You know that, 'she's reliable, she can take it' type of thing. Whereas others do something small and get heaps of praise? Hmmm, this is turning into a bitch session and so not what I wanted, lol so I will stop now.

Anyway on a positive note, I have my very first solo kit up for grabs and I am stoked!! It's in the Sunshine Studio Scraps newsletter and the alpha will be following next week. Where have I been?

I think I got lost somewhere in cyberland. I just realized how long it's been since my last post.......wow! I won't bore you with all the unexciting events in my life but I will say that school is out and I am now officially on summer vacation!!

I made this layout that I am really proud of. So proud of my idea that I turned the layout into a template. I used the collab Americana by Ziggle Designs and Tracie Stroud to scrap my Canada Day pictures.

Birthday Celebration, New Kit and a Freebie (or two)

I had these great intentions of a fun whitty post but alas I managed to get sidetracked and the fun whitty post is on someone else's blog, lol.

However I would like to share my day with the B~man on Saturday. After baseball we came home for him to change and then go shopping...........yep he has gotten this bug about going shopping. New running shoes were a necessity as his are dying so that was first on our list. That was painless, although I must say the options for boys is not as good as it is for girls. Next came the biggie, I knew he wanted to go to Aeropostale so bad, see the 'name brand' bug has just hit him. Old Navy and WalMart aren't all of it anymore I'm sad to say. So off we go........to the outlet store, lol. Pay dirt as they had buy one shirt and get one free so that easy and cheap enough. The shorts on the other hand, not so much but he needed some. Next it was American Eagle and again he found a shirt on sale for $14. 95, so to the cashier we go. I had a little boy who was grinning from ear to ear with his new clothes.

Now I'm not one to buy into this whole gotta have this label, but I'm also a realist and if I can get him a few items to make him happy then I'm going to do it. Not a whole wardrobe mind you but a few shirts and shorts is easy enough to do. We then had a gourment meal of Taco Bell, yep that was what he wanted. Home we went after a wonderful afternoon of shopping and being at 'the mall'.

It paid off too as when we got home he put all his clean clothes away (that had been in the laundrey basket for a week) and picked up his room. Wonder when the next BOGO sale at Aeropostale is going to be?

Ok, where do I begin? Other then to say I totally suck at keeping this blog up to date. I am truly hoping that I can change that soon. I know, I keep saying that and it hasn't happened yet. I'm Horrible!

I am so terrible! Here I am every night thinking 'I need to get something on my blog' and it didn't happen :(

I did get some of my mojo back and have done some new layouts that I'm really proud of. Been in a template slump though..........I know I could turn my layouts into a template but I want to do something different. I have some ideas rolling around in this head of mine so hopefully I will hav one up by the end of the weekend. I do have something in the works though...................my first kit! Yep I am in the midst of making a kit. Just have to add some elements to it and debating on making an alpha. Of course I have to see if a certain designer who has been pushing me to do this will kindly CC it for me before I put it out there.

Birthday, Grand Opening, Chatter and a Freebie!

Ok so where do I start? I have so much it feels like my head is going to explode. Want a little personal news? Ok, I shall bore you with my details.

Had my six month checkup at the Cancer Clinic last week, news is all good!! For my particular type of cancer my highest risk of recurrance was the first three years...........well I hit my 3 years and all is clear, I know 'yay me'. Now my risk drops to 10-20% and in another 4 years I can proclaim myself 'cured', doesn't that sound wonderful? It was great news for me as the Oncologist sated that I was lucky as my cancer was very very aggressive. I kind of clued in when I had a consult on Monday and she was booking me chemo for the Tuesday. So there's my most happy news!!

Birthday News--Scrap Orchard is One today!!

Yes that wonderful place that I call home is one year old today. It has been so wonderful watching that site grow and grow and I am proud to say I have been a part of it since day 1. The people there are fantastic, designers, owners, fellow scrappers................here's to you!!

There are lots of things planned for this momentous occasion and when the 'Queen Bees' do things they do things!! Here is just a little of what is going on;

Do you have jet lag from your flight? The beach in Portugal is gorgeous!! But I'm glad you decided to come to the beautiful Island of Jamaica!! I thought a nice evening stroll along the beach here at the Royal DeCameron in Runaway Bay would be relaxing. If we just walk a little further down, to that large hut on the water, we can go sip some exotic drinks at the swing bar and watch the sun set over the ocean. I know, I know, I actually have 1 person who follows my blog and I can't get my butt in gear to come and update it. I would say that one of my goals is to keep this updated but that won't happen. I have so much going on that I would only end up disappointing myself and obsessing over this as well, lol.

If you take a peek I did finally update my slide and have my March layouts posted :) almost in time to start Aprils!

I am so itching for the warmer weather. Tired of pulling out the winter coat and the like. Although I have gained a bunch of weight and am depressed just thinking of my spring and summer clothes.......................I would say chocolate would cure those feelings but I think that's what got me into this mess to begin with, lol.

The warmer weather means I can open that fancy little moon roof in my "Beaner". What's that you say? What the heck is a Beaner? Well it's the name of my Jeep, as my license plate letters are 'BENR' and I made the comment of "Beaner" and it just stuck. Instead of saying 'get in the jeep' I say 'go jump into Beaner.' Strange I know but that's me :D

Scrapping News!!

Wow do I have some news for you!! The Orchard girls have done it again. Not only do they have awesome goodies for you every Friday with their Fresh Fruit but from March 17-19 some of them are having a BOGO sale!!!! That's Buy One Get One Free for 2 days! Hockey season is now over

Well the B~man had his semi final game today. They played well but just couldn't get the puck to bounce their way. Certainly not for lack of trying, I think Braeden led the team with shots poor guy just couldn't get it in. He and his linemates had some wonderful passes and setups too. They lost 3-1 with B~man scoring the only goal, think he finished the season with the most goals for his team. Today was bittersweet in another way as well, it was the last time he wore the jersey for his hockey center. He will be donning a new jersey next season due to the move. We finished out the season with the old one but next year he goes from being a 'Capital' to a 'Star'.
Rain.........rain................rain........................rain..................rain....................rain.................rain....................
that's what it did all day today. Of course, it's the weekend, what else would it do? The temp was decent just the water falling from the sky kind of ruined the whole thing. I am so ready for winter to be over, shut off the furnace, open the windows and breathe fresh air...........ahhh so ready.
Of course I'm not ready for my 'warm weather' wardrobe. Kind of worried that things won't fit, I have gained so much weight since Christmas it's not even funny. What doesn't help is my body is in constant pain, achy and mainly in the joints.....................need to get off my butt and get moving. Hoping that nicer weather will inspire me to walk, especially now that I no longer live on a highway but a neighbourhood with sidewalks. Think the ex will give me the dog back so I have someone to walk with?
No freebie tonight but I am working on another template..........ok I have it mostly finished was just too lazy to make the preview and save the layers as PNG files as well :">
Wow, I blogged 2 nights in a row!! Could this be the start of something? I doubt it but it was worth a shot, lol.

Before I get on with what my 'WoWs' were for I must share.

The B~man went to a dance tonight, all excited he was to go. I'm so glad to see him happy where we are and that he's taking an active interest in meeting kids from this community. It's going to be sad when he finally says goodbye his school and hockey club............I'm getting a lump in my throat just thinking about it.

I know kids are resilient and what I did Idid for the benefit of both of us. Just can't help second guessing myself, kwim? I am extremely lucky that he is such a good boy, easy going, friendly and according to his teacher he talks alot, lol.

On to my WoWs..........Franziska has been on a creative frenzy lately. First Vintage Flowers, then Garden Tea Party, collab with Shauna (Pineapple Plantation Designs) called Delicate Garden and then she pops up with this kit, Waiting for Spring.............oh my! Of course all are absolutely gorgeous!!

A Little Update, Previews, Blog Train and a Freebie!

I'm sad I know......so not good at this blog thing. Wish I could say I'd update more but we all know that won't happen lol.

Need to get this out...................some one has taken over my 11 year old!! I don't like what has replaced my sweet, kindhearted little boy. Well he's still there but so is a pouty, argumentative, snotty thing that sometimes takes over his body. Will this stop? Am I know officially on my way to dealing with a preteen? I hope not, I am so not ready for this, lol. I want to be the only drama queen in my house (of course if he read this he would be very offended about the 'queen' so I guess he would be a drama king......not the same ring to it though).

Mini rant over..........on to exciting things like the weather. It's trying to warm up here, the temp hit the low 50's and may hit 60 tomorrow!! Of course they are talking rain for the weekend, when else right?

Scrapping News!!

At Scrap Orchard the new challenges are up for the month of March. The appletini's (that's us) have a really fun challenge for the month. Each week we are posting 2 4 x 6 templates to help you create a brag book. The templates are free and if you miss a week that's ok because we are leaving all the links active until March 30 to give folks lots of time to play.

Shauna has a new collab out with Franziska called Delicate Garden (talk about making my CT duties easy, lol) that is so pretty with dried roses and wonderful textures, gorgeous colours......well I mean it's Shauna and Franziska.......gorgeous textured papers are a given.

Kami has two really neat alphas that will finish off any layout with ease. Definitely will go in the 'use a lot' folder with their versatility.

I Disappeared Again huh? Have Freebes though

I am such a bad blogger! I get on the computer and start fooling around, visit blogs...thinking I should update mine, check out my fave sites... thinking I should update my blog, do some layouts...thinking I should update my blog, chat with friends...thinking I should................you get the picture. But I do have a couple of freebies for you!!

Not too much has been happening around me, nice and quiet which I like, had enough drama and not in any hurry for any more. Although when dealing with certain situations it's likely to crop up.

B~man is in hockey playoffs right now, they finished the preliminary round with a 4-1 record and the top 4 teams advance to the semi final round. His team should be in with the top 4 and if they go to a goals for/goals against they'll still be in good shape as they posted three shutouts. Hard part is we have to wait 2 weeks before playing again.

Where oh Where Have I Been?

Well so much for being more diligent at maintaining my blog! It's been sitting here half finished waiting to take Christmas down, and finally I got to it.
*Note to self--do not do a theme again.
Not much happening in real life..........well that would be a bit of a fib as I have had some excitement but not the good kind and we'll just leave it there. Let's just say it involves a certain someone who I no longer live with.
B~man is in the midst of playoffs for hockey and they are doing really well. They won the first game 5-0, second game was 5-0, third game was 2-0 and yesterday was 2-1. B~man is doing well in the scoring department also, with 5 goals, 4 assists and I of course have to mention this for him, 1 penalty.
All Things Scrappy........
I'm hoping to get a couple of templates finished and I may try my hand at some Valentine's Cards. That is if there is anyone out there who still comes to my blog (think there were 2 of you and I am grateful for you, lol).

I hope everyone had a great holiday and wishing you all the best for the new year. The B~man got his Wii for Christmas so all was happy in this household.
He also played in a hockey tournament that started on Boxing Day. His team reached the finals and only lost by one goal!! What a game that was! B~man was recognized twice by the coaches of the other team and awarded the Player of the Game medal in game 1 and game 2....he was so proud. In the semi-final matchup he scored a hat trick, needles to say the boy was floating on air, LOL. The whole team played so well.

I'm sitting here at 8:31 AM on the 24th writing my Christmas post, don't you love scheduled posts? LOL.

My thoughts this Christmas................

1. I am so lucky to have such a supportive family, it's been a rough year and they have stood by me.

2. The B~man, did I hit the jackpot with this young man. I joke about hit snarkiness and attitude (don't all parents?) but I do realize how lucky I am to have such a wonderful son.

3. My health, so far so good. the big C hasn't reared it's ugly head again. I have some issues with my shoulder they wanted more investigation into but there is no evidence of metastisis, yay.

4. My job, of course there are days, but all in all I really do enjoy what I do.

5. The 'girls', you know who you are! My online friends that I have made, I so enjoy our chats and the support.

6. My digihomes, a whole new enjoyable world has been opened up to me

7. The designers I CT for, thank you for being such amazing people and giving me the opportunity to create for you.

I'm sure if I sat here long enough I could come with a whole bunch more, but I'll stop there.

More Snow!!

We are going to have a true White Christmas this year and I am so excited. For the first time in I don't know how long we have a good old fashioned lots of snow Christmas.

B~man went sledding today with my brother and his girls, they had a blast and came back here for some hot chocolate and cookies.

I stayed here because the dryer I wasn't anticipating buying was set to arrive and of course it did, just before my brother came. The delivery men brought my other one upstairs and put it outside for me and I called the used appliance guy to come and pick it up.............well I looked outside at 9 PM and it's still sitting there!! So much for wanting it to fix and sell to someone else. But more than that I have a freaking drying sitting out front of my place......and at Christmas too!!

Shopping done--Presents and Food for Holidays

All my shopping is done, has been for a few days. Just not wrapped, I wasn't in the mood.....better get myself moving considering what day it is. I can't wait to see B~man's face when he opens the Wii, he wanted one last year but it just couldn't be done. He's had a heck of a year in terms of life changing events and handled it all with a smile and his usual heart of gold. I was glad I could do this for him.

Food shopping is done also. My Christmas baking was compliments of the Culinary Arts class at the High School in the town I work in, LOL. Mom has the turkey, my job was to buy veggies and the wine............easy done.

Freebie, Great Sales and Mindless Rambling

I was going to do the freebie first but thought, no, it's my blog and I want my voice to be heard! LOL, it's not some rant about the injustices of the world or who did what to whom...just a few little comments and insight into my rather boring life.

Life with an eleven year old!
Since moving the B~man has really taken his independence to the next level. By that I mean, no longer will he step foot in the grocery store, choosing instead to remain home. Now the store is less than 5 minutes away, he is 11 and my parents live just up the sidewalk. Making both us feel secure. Of course he knows the drills, lock the door behind me, do not answer the door, unless it's a relative, or the police which in our case could also be my brother (a little extra security there), don't answer the phone, unless of course it's a relative (yes, I have call display).

Today before I went out and did my shopping I gave him a list of jobs to do. You would have thought I asked him to paint the whole place and move furniture. Here is 'the list'

make bed and tidy room

put clean clothes away.......you know, the basket you've been living out of for a week

vacuum room and hallway

clean litterbox (he wanted the cat, I didn't)

shovel the front step

take recycling to the bin

I didn't think it was too bad...................the look of horror made me wish I had my camera at the moment to snap the picture but alas I didn't.

Anyway, I got home from grocery shopping to find he had done the first four (yay!!!!) and he helped me carry in the groceries. I reminded him of the last two and he decided he had forgotten.......legit? No, I think there was a good show on the tube and I came home before he could get to it :) but he did it. Wonder what I can get him to do today?

Real life news................

The B-man made the junior volleyball squad for the little mock tournament they had at the school. The teacher was using it as a way to get them used to what a tournament would be like, pointers, rules, sportsmanship etc. It was a great idea and B-man was so proud! I of course went to watch and cheer them on. A fun night and the smile on his fac when he saw me sitting on the stage was priceless. I took some pictures and got what I thought was a really good one of him jumping up get the ball but alas, once on my computer it was all blurry and icky :(.

B-man has had a great week as he is also doing the Break away challenge for his team in the skills competition at the hockey tournament. Of course he's nervous and said he would rather have done the backward skating one. I told him to relax but then again that's easy for me to say isn't it?

It was gorgeous one too, took a shot on net, bounced off the goalie and he was there for his own rebound..........SCORE!!!!!!! He also had a wonderful shot from the blue line, almost went in.

Geez I had an audience of two who read my blog and then I went and disappeared by moving. So I have to start all over again to gain my two readers back, LOL.

My Scrapping news hasn't really changed. I'm still a Moderator over at Scrap Orchard and have my CT duties with Shauna and Kami. Franziska has left Sunshine Studio Scraps and is now over at Scrapbook Graphics with Monica..........still have both those CT's going on. Of course I'm still a Wonder Girl at Sun and continue with the Plums and Moon Scraps on their CT. Needless to say I need to adopt a family so I can take more pics, LOL.

I can say that Scrap Orchard is starting the 12 Days of Christmas, today being the first day.

Exhausted, uninspired and hopeful..............three pretty daunting words when you first see them aren't they? I'm exhausted with working, packing, arranging, keeping up.......you know, all the fun with selling a house. Uninspired, I have all these fabulous kits to work with but because of all the house stuff my mind is clogged, so I'm struggling to create. Hopeful, my fresh start will be a good thing for me, that I can truly move on and go forward to good things. I'm feeling positive about it, just overwhelmed at starting a 'new' life.

I will be going offline as of Saturday and will hopefully not be gone too long. I'm going to see how soon I can get my internet and everything set up, my official moving date is the 15th so you may not see me until the 18th.

My moving date is fast approaching and I am so not ready. It's been hard trying to keep up and quite frankly when I get home from work the last thing I want to do is pack up my life. I need to shut the computer down and focus on my tasks at hand but alas this is much more fun. Pretty sure I got the condo that I was interested in, let's just hope I can get everything in order in time to move in, LOL. My mom is really excited at the idea of me coming 'home', been 20 years and I'm going back to my home town, where I need to be right now.

Still enjoying the CT gigs I am lucky enough to be a part of. My guest spot with Monica of Studio mgl ended yesterday but.....................she asked if I would be interested in staying around for another month!! The answer of course was yes!!

I have completed another album with a kit from the Polka Dot Plum. This time it is the Gracie album and I used Her First Kiss. Keep an eye out on their blog as to when this freebie will be posted. I will of course post here as well.

Say What?!!

In all my rush the other day I forgot to vent about my latest medical disaster. I say disaster as I always thought of myself as a pretty healthy person, not anymore. I have been having intense pain in my left shoulder for at least 3 weeks (I have a very high pain tolerance and thought it would go away) but it got to the point of shooting down my arm and making my hand numb. Keep in mind I'm left handed, have a job that requires documentation and I'm moving, LOL. Turns out it's tendenitis, pretty bad apparently.......so I'm thinking 'no big deal' until the doctor informs me that this condition can be chronic! I just stared at him, thinking 'what next?' So I'm now on an anti-inflammatory for the next 30 days, hoping that helps so I don't have to go next step which is cortisone injection. Shots don't bother me at all, just don't want to have to go that route. Oh and I'm supposed to 'rest' my shoulder/arm for the next month..............I started laughing as I told him I was moving on Oct.15 so that was very unlikely to happen. OK I've vented a bit and now feel much better. Not having a pity party just waiting for my little blcak cloud to lift so I can see the clear blue sky above me. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, is it any wonder that Eeyore was and still is my favourite character from Winnie the Pooh?
Ok it is nicer now than it was in August! Temps have been a gorgeous mid to high seventies, today is going to be eighty one. I love having all my windows open, I'm off tomorrow so it will be stripping the beds again and hanging the sheets on the line. I love to cuddle up in my sheets and smell that fresh outdoor line smell. That's what I'm going to miss about my house, I my laundry line.
Well that is my mindless chatter for today. Don't forget I will be back tomorrow with a couple of QP's using the Make it Snappy participation gift, they also have some other items from Ziggle Designs in them. Well if anyone has visited you can see I have a new header for my blog. Shauna of Pineapple Plantation Designs graciously gave me permission to use her A Girl's Best Friend kit to spruce up the blog. My goal is to go pink for October but I'm still learning all this blogger stuff. I would like to take one of her papers and use it as my background. So if anyone knows how, I would love some pointers.

House front............my condo is on hold. The things that I need to take care of are going to take me longer and involve more people. I won't bore you with the details other than to say fighting the government is not fun. Have done a little packing though. Going to do some sorting and pitching.

So I've dabbled in some papers, made an orange, red, yellow, green, and 2 brown. Not sure I'm ready to preview them though. Just don't have the confidence, so we'll see.

Took the B-man to the doctor today, he has an ear infection. Bizarre how all these years of being clear (thanks to tubes when he was 4) and he has had 2 in just over a year. He noticed it because his ear was plugged and wouldn't drain. I took a look, recognized the colour and phone call to doctor was made. Don't need him having a real excuse to not listen to me, LOL.

Exciting things coming up this weekend. Us Wonder Girls are having a Blog Hop Party to kick of Sunshine Wonder Week, meaning each one of us will have a special freebie on our blogs. Our freebies coordinate with Anchor's Away a fun collab that the Sunshine Team released in August. Now, we are back with SWW this coming Sunday and are featuring the amazing kit, Sunflowers. The title pretty much says it, LOL. No real news to report just mindless ramblings.

Did some packing yesterday, my mom came over to give me a hand (kick in the butt to make sure I stuck with it actually). I have 3 boxes of give-away or yard sale items and a box of 'why do I still have this, it needs to go in the garbage', that's from the dining/back room and the kitchen. I am so dreading hitting the closets, especially the one in the spare bedroom/my computer room. *sigh* but I think I will be dumping a lot of that stuff, kwim?

Today hopefully I will get the news that I can go ahead and get started on getting me that condo. My mom is excited at the prospect of me coming 'home', by that I mean returning to my hometown which is an hour from where I am presently. Not only will I be back in town but in the same complex as my parents, different section of condos. We'll be close but far enough away, LOL. So if the phone call I am anticipating goes the way I need it to then I'm on my way to really starting over. Cross your fingers.

Anyone want a cat? Argghhhh, the 'thing' is driving me crazy!! He has like totally spazzed out, I'll walk by and he will attack my leg from behind, climbing up the doors, literally. Think he's gone coo coo. Whatever this is hopes it ends soon. I'm definitely thinking of having his claws removed. He's a year old so I'm hoping it's not too late.

Well there is my rambling for the day. I'm going to work on creating some papers, if they turn out decent I'll post them and hopefully those who read my blog will download them.

Where has time gone? I just looked and saw I haven't posted since the 8th of September!! Good to tell I'm back at work, the time to do all this just isn't there.

On to real life news....................

The house is sold, signed the papers Monday and the 'sold' sticker went on that evening. It was bittersweet though. I cried, tears of relief and of sadness. Change is good, but scary. The unkown looms before me but the B-man and I will make it through.

So where am I going? I have no clue, LOL. Yep, no arrangements thus far. I looked at 2 condos last weekend, one to purchase and one to rent. Think I'm leaning toward renting for right now, too much is going on so I think that may be my safest bet for right now, plus the rent is guaranteed for five years. I'm thinking after one I will know what I want. All this sounds great right? Well, there are a few things holding me back, the ex's former business.......somehow I got tangled up in the mess that is ongoing (I had nothing to do with the business, just have to prove that to the government) so I need to get me cleared out of that and get at my money then I can move on and move in, kwim?

I've graduated!!! Yep had my appointment at the cancer clinic on Thursday and I've hit 2 and half years without any recurrance so I now don't have to go back for another 6 months. On another good note, I have also passed my 'danger zone' with regard to recurrance, I have now plateaued meaning I am no longer in the high risk group so yeah me!!!!

All is good and some new previews

A lady came and looked at the house last week and asked if she could bring someone round to check out the roof, electrical, plumbing etc on Sunday. Of cours I said no problem, not going to turn down a potential buyer. They came today, during supper of course, but oh well. Let's see if anything comes of it. I already have an offer in so it would have to be a cash offer and close to what I accepted conditionally we'll see.....

Thank you to those who left messages at 4Shared for the B-man and his disappointment at not making the team. He was ok yesterday and then today felt a lot better when we found out they went with the minimum amount of minors they can have, 5. I tell you our house league teams will be tough to beat with all these former travel players in there, but it will also be unfair to those kids who have only played house league, why you ask? In the travel system they have been allowed to body check for 2 years already, house league PeeWee is the first year. Now Hockey Canada changed the rules and have disallowed checking in Atom travel this year as well. I so wish we would go back to a minor/major system instead of A/AE..........the size difference between 10/11 year olds and 11/12 year olds is huge. I have a hockey conversation with him I would like to share, it's cute:

me- no that was for travel hockey, it was $575

me-that was on top of the $520, the other was travel fees

B-no wonder we haven't been on vacation, you weren't joking when you said hockey season was our vacation

Been Busy, previews and a freebie

We can wrap week one up and put it in the books. First week of school is now a thing of the past, on to week two. Pretty uneventful other than I had my group of girls from last year start up again..........those who were friends last year are now 'haters' and those who were 'haters' are now friends. One outsider is now 'in' and one 'groupie' is now out..........grade 7 and 8. Think I will be spending a lot of time in my office with this clique.

The B-man's hockey tryouts are over................he was released from the travel team. A devastating blow to the poor guy, he skated his heart out and did very well. First time he hasn't made a travel team, my heart broke for him. With it being two ages together it looks like they are keeping the second years, only 6 first years remained and I know of two that were released, B-man being one. So off to house league we go, which isn't a bad thing, saves me $$, the schedule isn't anywhere near as hectic. We have a coach who wants him already, LOL. The comment was 'I want him with us, not against us', which B-man understood as a compliment. Will try again next year, just as long as he keeps his spirit up.

First Day of School, Previews, Template News and a Freebie

First day back and all went well, no tears or refusing to ever attend again.............and that was me, LOL. Day 1 is always laid back for me due to my job within the school. I make sure to connect with my students from last year, visit classes, be visible. Next week I will start planning my schedule after reorganization and schedule blips have been ironed out. B-man came home pretty happy with his day and fell right into routine of emptying the backpack, showing me the wads of paperwork I need to sign, and that this year they don't need parental signatures in their agenda on a daily basis, he's in grade 6 now you know, hehehe. That's fine, but I WILL be looking at it daily.....he's a great kid and student, but well he's a kid. I've forgotten to do something for work (good job I was able to wing it and think on my feet, LOL). We'll see how day 2 goes.

We have hockey tonight and Friday and I have a hockey meeting Thursday..........hmmm, detecting a theme here?

Tomorrow is the first day of school. *sigh* where did August go? I blinked and it was gone, just seems like last week we were talking about the last month of summer and here it is. Back to routine, homework, planning for me. Felt weird making sure dinner was on time tonight, B-man and I have been used to eating later in the evening as we didn't have to worry about a schedule of any sort. I had intentions of starting the back to school routine a week ago but then thought, naw let's enjoy the last vestiges of no schedule so we did. Back to routine where RL will come to the forefront again. I've so enjoyed my break from it.

What a day! Or should I say weekend? The sales have been mad, think I put over 2 gig on my hard drive the last 2 days, lol. I hit the Farmer's Market over at Scrap Orchard and picked up one of Sine's templates, 2 paper packs, Becky's (B~Creative) Vintage Valentine and all 3 of the Seedlings collabs.......are you ready? $1.00 each, yep, you are in fact reading that correctly. I also did some shopping over at Sunshine Studio who are having a 25% storewide sale as well and I did very well. Oh, and I had a coupon from the Flergs scraplift so I bought one of her glitter styles, cost me $1.50. Needless to say I am a very happy little scrapper right now. What I do is transfer some money to my paypal account and then it's there for if and when I need (ok want) something. No money in account=no shopping, great help with curbing impulse buys. Where am I going with this? The account is down to $.88, LOL. I only put $20.00 in it I felt that was a fair amount to give myself, plus it was my birthday so I bought myself a bunch of digipresents. :) I've got $10 making it's way to my account for September.

Oh the real estate agent is showing the house again tomorrow. The offer I have is conditional, would be nice if I got another one without conditions.

A Big Thank You

Just wanted to say thank you to all who stopped by and wished me a happy birthday. I really appreciated it.
So what did I do on my 'special day'? Absolutley nothing! Sat and played at the computer all day but didn't accomplish anything. Well, I got two pages of a tag album done but no layouts. Received lots of well wishes from my peeps over at Scrap Orchard and Sunshine Studio as well. The B-man.............he proudly presented me with the card he purchased this morning. So I open the envelope and start to read the card, open the card and what happens? The card starts laughing at me.......................man I love my boy. He has that weird warped sense of humour that I have, LOL. To me that was the perfect card, it was him and I loved it. As for the rest of day we didn't do much of anything. He did howeve keep coming up to me giving me hugs and saying "happy birthday mom"..........did I already say it? I love that boy.
This evening he had the couch pulled out and we laid on the sofa bed to watch a movie. Oh yeah we ate burritos, while lying on the sofabed watching a movie. It was wonderful.
Oh yeah, for those who read the post from a few days ago, he is going to grandma's for the bbq. his choice. Granted, it's because there are no plans here, LOL but nonetheless his dad called asking and I said we had no plans it was up to B-man. He decided to go so he could see his cousins again.
No freebie tonight, as I said I sat here most of the day but didn't accomplish a heck of a lot. Have a great one!

Well, another year added on. Yep I am one more year older today, not so sure about wiser but I am older. Birthday's what do they mean to me? Hmmm, guess that would depend on how I look at it, in terms of what I've been through health wise, very glad I'm healthy to say it's my birthday. In terms of special plans..........don't have any. It will just be another day for me. My brother and parents will call me. The B-man rode his bike down to the drug store this afternoon to buy a card, I can't wait to see that :) that is my special moment, it's from the heart and was so important to him to go do. Kid of mine has a heart of gold I tell you, I am so blessed. That's what I'm grateful for...........my boy.

First of all I just wanted to say thank you for all your kindness and comments after my rant yesterday. I felt better after saying my piece and thank you again for your validation.

I recieved some sad news yesterday. One of the ladies on my cancer committee is sick...........cancer, it's back. I don't know any other details, not sure where they found it or how long she had been clear. Just reminds me that I can't get too comfortable, it's lurking, I just don't obsess about it but I stay on my toes as well.

B-man had hockey tonight. Looks like they're going to have to make some cuts, so he knows he has to work very hard if he wants to earn his spot. I'm hoping he does as it will crush his little spirit if he doesn't make it. It's taken two seasons to undo what another coach did in one..........it was wonderful to see him confident and be a leader last year. Yes I let that coach know and his wife as well what they did for him last year. My son got his self confidence and self worth back. There's only so much I as a parent can do, when one adult tears them down it takes quite a while to build it back up.

Not any exciting news from me really......I had an interesting event in a parking lot last night but I will save that for this weekend to share.

Printing and freebie

I must share this. I took a cd of my layouts and had some printed up last night (I have 100 to do so not all were done, LO) as where I go have 8 x 10's on for $0.49. Anyway, can I just say wow!! This is why ladies we all stick with designers who have high quality designs, I know the ones I've had printed have all been great, my stuff has come from Scrap Orchard, Sunshine Studio and I have not been disappointed. Not to say noone else's is high quality, just those are the two places I haunt so I can only speak to those designers, and of course Flergs as I have some of her stuff as well........not enough though, :)

So I'm thinking summer is over, another cool day. Out in jeans again............complaining? Nope my favourite temp is when it's mid seventies, windows all open, love it. Except still have the throbbing head and earache, good old sinuses aren't they wonderful? Yuck! Still no rain, had maybe ten sprinkles on my windshield while I was driving home but that's it. My grass is all brown and not growing..............except for the crab grass that is beautiful green and growing just fine!

*Rant Alert*

OK, I really need to vent, so if you don't want to read skip down, I'll completely understand. I'm picking my son up from his dad (my soon to be ex) and B-man tells me that he found out tonight that his grandma is having a Labour Day bbq on Sunday. Now, no big deal except I don't think it is up to a 10 year old to inform me, I had just seen his dad, he could have said something, now in his defense when I did speak to him he did just find out as well. Any way I was already upset over something (a lot of things but that's another story) and I commented we had talked about going to a local fair this weekend...........I felt horrible. I wasn't whiny or angry or sarcastic, I merely commented about the fair and that it was my birthday on Saturday (bbq is Sunday). I just feel bad that B-man immediately felt he had to choose Sunday with me, this is the first time this has popped up so we've been lucky. Truth is his grandmother doesn't treat him that well and he really doesn't want to see her, only goes for his dad and to see his cousins. The Easter debacle is still fresh in the poor kids mind. Before anyone thinks I'm being mean, she left his baseball game because her son (my ex) was talking with someone and didn't come running over and sit with her, and because B-man had to stay close to the dugout so he didn't come talk to her. She didn't show up for the next one or come the next day for his semi-final and championship game............she wonders why he doesn't want to see her?! I could write a flipping novel but I won't waste anyone's time. If he wants to go on Sunday I will have no problem with him going, I will not hold him back or take part in petty crap. OK, rant is over.................whew I feel better.

I made a template today and even scrapped a layout with it to show you! So here is the layout, and I used Pineapple Plantations Designs, Vintage Grunge (image is linked). It's of the B-man holding his cousin Ashley (one half of the twins you see in my layouts). I played with the colour of the photo to get a vintage feel but I'm not sure I accomplished that, oh well it's all about learning. Enjoy today's template! Real Life News and back with a freebie

I think I have one of those, LOL. In all my excitement about the CT positions, I forgot that I have some RL news to share as well. I finally got an offer on the house, it was a fair offer and I singed on the dotted line. Of course it is upon condition of them selling their home and the usual getting financing. It's good until October 30 but.............once they remove their conditions I will have 30 days to pack up and leave, LOL. I can deal with that, I think. Poor B-man didn't take the news so well, this is the only house he's known and of course is looking at it from a different perspective than I am. My memories of this place these last 5 years haven't been all good ones, mostly bad I'm afraid. Still it's the security and I can understand where he's coming from. Where are we going once all is official? I have no clue, I'm flying by the seat of my pants which is so not like me. I just don't want to look that far ahead and something not work out, kwim?

As for other RL news, it was so hot out on the weekend I ended up shutting all the windows and putting the central air on, yesterday it cooled down so of course the air went off and windows open again. It got col last night! I woke up all snuggled in my blankets. Today I went out with jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt.........talk about one extreme to the other. I was a little concerned as I pulled out my 'favourite' jeans though. Been very lazy this summer, too much time in front of computer, was worried I wouldn't be able to get into them..........imagine my surprise as I pulled them on, no fighting with the zipper or anything.

Ahhhh, my sinus' are driving me crazy!! I have a constant headache and my ears hurt, I never get earaches. I'm really hoping that at my age I'm not developing allergies..............ok, done with that now :)

Scrapping news; there will be a Make it Snappy speed scrap at Scrap Orchard on Friday evening again. This will be followed by a chat.........those always get way out of control in a fun way. Kami has a gorgeous participation kit for all those who finish up and post their layout. There is also going to be another Farmer's Market!! I can't wait to see what's in the shop, I missed the last one but the one before I stocked up and got some awesome deals. I know Kami is retiring a few kits, don't have the downlo' on Shauna yet.

I have to share this one I made using Shauna's Mum's the Word kit as well. The colours are wonderful, rich and inviting. I just love scrapping my nieces.............my brother does too! I do the work and gets a great scrapbook of his children.

Here's a layout I did with Franziska's collab Urban Solitude with Moon Scraps. I am so proud of this layout. It was also for the very first Speed Scrap I've ever hosted. This kit is awesome, it has a great urban feel to it.

If anyone has any I will gladly attempt something, need some fresh ideas. Think I'm going in to a slump with my layouts as well............last two days haven't really produced much. So Much News!

I have no idea where to start, LOL. I will probably do my usual rambling and off topic, make no sense, grammar out the window type of post. Oh yeah, there will be keyboard errors as well.......I do not make spelling errors the keyboard does not know how to type correctly what I want to say.

Scrapping news...............my guest spot with Franziska? It turned into permanent!!!!!! Yeah me, I am soooooo excited. I also hosted my very first speed scrap over at Sunshine Studios last night and this morning for the launch of her new collab Urban Solitude with Moon Scraps. It was a blast and this kit is so cool.....not only did I host the Speed Scrap but I managed to get a layout done for each session. So yes I'm very excited about this opportunity.

In other exciting news, I got word today officially. I can spill my guts......been killing me! I applied for another CT......Pineapple Plantation Designs...............well I got it!! It's temporary, guesting of course and if it works could become permanent as well. I also got asked if I would like to join Ziggle Designs CT! Yep you read it correctly within two days I got my one guest spot turned into permanent and got picked up my two more of my favourite designers to guest. What a busy last couple of days!! I may have another announcement to make as well, LOL. I still can't believe it.

Needless to say I have not sat and created a template. I'm hoping to have one ready for Monday. Be forewarned my freebies may be more sporadic as I return to work, one week left of vacation and back to work. I have my duties at Scrap Orchard, Sunshine Studio and of course my CT obligations................so I can assure you they won't be daily any longer. Probably weekly.

You've all read a little bit about my workshop in yesterday's post, if you didn't, go read it and then come back up here. Today was day 3 and it was wonderful, enlightening, informative...all that I want it to be, but................for some reason it took me a while to get in the groove kwim? I think it was because I woke up late and had to rush, meaning I didn't get a chance to make coffee. Of course even though I was running late I HAD to stop in at Timmy's and grab myself a coffee for my hike into the city. For non-Canadians, Timmy's is for Tim Horton's which is a very popular coffee chain here. I arrive at my workshop not as late as I was worried I would be (thank you back country roads with no police on them today) and see there were 2 people who arrived at the same time. Just kind of put me 'off' at first. We did community circle which enabled me to apologize and state that I felt disconbobulated (love that word and any chance I get to use it) and was looking forward to getting set. Lo and behold, there were a few of us feeling a bit 'off'.............hmmmm, atmospheric pressure changes?

I know I've had a sinus headache and felt the pressure for the last couple of days. Need rain I think, not the thunderstorms but just some nice gentle rain. See look I changed topics in mid paragraph and am all over the place, LOL.

Think it's back today...free word titles and template.

Hoping it's back anyway. The mojo helped me finish 2 templates, one that I had started and another one that just needed to be saved as PNG's. I also made these little word titles to share. Hopefully you like them and find them useful.

The word titles came about due to a workshop I'm taking right now. It's all about building a sense of community within the classroom and making children feel safe and an important member of the group. We are doing some team building activities and have been put in groups for some activities. Now I do a lot of large and small groups in my job but love having different perspectives and the opportunity to learn something new or a twist on something old is welcomed by me. I really enjoy my job and if I can take it back and bring a sense of community to a classroom, or group of students then I am a happy person. One particular thing the instructor is discussing and reminding us of is appreciation statements. It is so true that we take things for granted and many times do not stop to make a simple "I appreciate that......". Amazing how easy it is to do and the effect it has on a person is incredible.

This has inspired me (gosh knows I have needed some positive inspiration in my personal life lately) to set a goal of giving my son an 'I appreciate' daily. I tell him I love hime every day, and I do let him know how proud I am of him...........but I also take for granted that he's a good kid and don't necessarily stop to take that few extra minutes daily to tell him so.

My question to you is, 'What have you learned this week?'

It happened. I have been on a tear with my layouts and then offering up all the freebies. I knew this would eventually come and it did............the mojo is now a 'nogo'. I have two templates in the works but am just not happy with them. I started a third...............hit delete. Even with my layouts, I completed one but think it's so-so. Ahhh, wonder how long this dryspell will last? My last one was well over a month!! Maybe I'll create something other then templates, been playing with papers and a few elements but I'm just not confident enough to put them out there.

Upgraded my RAM today. I was only running 512 MB and would sometimes have issues with PSE, hopefully this will help. I installed (yes you read correctly) 1 GB today. I think it's working, not quite sure how I will know...........PSE appeared to load quicker, but it didn't act up all the time so I'm not quite sure. Went into Best Buy after my workshop and they had the 1 GB on for $39.99, too good a deal to pass up, especially when 512 is the same price. I have one slot open so I may go back and get another GB just to be 'safe', lol. Still waiting on the 'extra' $$ to purchase my EHD............is there such a thing as extra $$ any more?

Hopefully I'll be back with another template shortly. I so want to do one with circles but I'm just not happy with what I came up with......................

Easy Relaxing Day and new freebie

Today we took it easy, nice and relaxing day. Had to recover from our busy weekend with baseball and hockey followed by 4 days of twindom. I didn't realize how quiet my life is with just the two of us until yesterday. The B-man said he was ready for some peace as well. Loves those cousins of his and they worship him, but a man (in training) can only take so much talk of unicorns, Littlest Pet Shop and things being 'cute'. He enjoyed the pool and hanging out but was ready to head home.

One of our adventures with the girls was going for ice cream followed by a trip to the local bird sanctuary to feed some ducks and geese. Simple trip right? Wrong............5 minutes to decide between chocolate or vanilla ice cream (soft serve) and then it was in a dish, no a cone. Got it in a cone and then had to ask for a dish anyway, LOL. Granted the one who decided to put her cone in the dish had a much cleaner face than the other one, but that's what Wet Ones are for. Off to the bird sanctuary we go to feed the ducks and geese. We get our little cups of food and into the area we go.........................well, that was the plan anyway. Of course these geese see the cups and come waddling up, my poor nieces head for the gate thinking they are going to get bit. We start feeding the hungry mob and convince the one that she is not going to get bit, in she comes after dumping her cup in one spot. Over to the big pond we go where we watch the ducks dive and the geese glide. Attention spans gone so off we went to investigate futher, looked at some Peacocks and then headed back home. The kids played and I decided what we were going to have for dinner, being the good aunt that I am I found the phone book and ordered a pizza for our last night.

It's amazing how fast you forget what it was like, I mean my guys is only 10 but what a difference in independence compared to 6. I had a great time with the girls and would do it again........in a few months, LOL.

Hard to believe summer vacatin will be over soon...........no more staying up most of the night for me. Back to a semi-regular bedtime and routine. lunches, schedules. I have a four day workshop next week I'm looking forward to, get my brain in 'work' mode.

Sorry I haven't been around the last few days. It was completely unintentional. I was at my brother's watching his girls, brought my scrapping stuff and figured I could scrap to my heart's content when the kids were asleep..................um yeah. Can't do much when the internet goes down day 2 of my stay. Of course not being the account holder there was no point in me calling, so I suffered. Suffer I did!! I'm back on my computer and with internet that is working...............I hope I don't tempt the internet gremlins as I already had my 'OMG what do you mean my modem's not working and I have to wait a day or two for the new one, I will drive up right now to get it' moment. I will tell you of my 4 days in twindom hopefully tomorrow........conversations with 6 six year olds in stereo.

Exciting news (for us anyway). The B-man's baseball team took it all on the weekend. They earned league champs AND they went undefeated in the wind up tournament to take that title as well. He was pretty excited as that's two year in a row he has been on the League Championship team and Tournament winning team, in 2 different divisions. He played very well as did the whole team. It was a fun weekend, great group of kids and great group of parents. Kind of sad that baseball is over though, love it. Of course we were at the arena as well........played 2 baseball games and then 2 hours later on the ice for tryouts.

First of all I want to thank all of you for your kind comments. As I stated this is a new adventure for me, I can only imagine how the designers feel as it is money being taken out of their pockets. I emailed the individual, but as of yet received no response and I'm not expecting one either. She did not claim the template as her own but took all the 'stuff' out and uploaded the PSD file to her 4Shared account. I did in fact notify 4Shared and today received an email stating they had disabled the link. They are prompt and my links are all still working. Thank you to my fellow WonderGirls and everyone over at Sunshine Studio for the advice and to my peeps over at the Orchard for their support as well........what an awesome community I am part of!! Drama over, LOL.

Get ready for a long winded post as I think you may get one...................and because it's me it will probably be all over the place. I tell you since my treatments I know how a person with ADD feels, wow, still can't concentrate and focus like I used to. They don't tell you about the LONG after effects of chemo etc. I think it's because we'd tell them to stuff it! See what I mean, I so did not mean to go there.........but in two weeks it will be my second anniversary of finishing treatments......all of them. Wahoo~~

So many firsts for me today in the digiworld. I actually posted my first papers for others to see (my WonderGirl friends) and I even made an alpha..........wow look out world here I come! Going to try some titles that look like stickers, we'll see. In other digi news, there may be some other news to share, but I can't yet. So 2 big surprises may be in the works for me, in other words more reason for me to obsess over my computer. I just downloaded Franziska's new kit Dusk Dew..........waiting to unzip and start to play with this one. Need to actually sleep tonight though.....went to sleep after 5 am and then was up at 7:30 am.........so if I don't make sense I haven't been drinking, just no sleep.

OK, I'm new to this game and started making templates as a way to be creative. When I first started digital scrapping I relied heavily on templates, thank you Andrea Gold! I still enjoy using them once in a while but have found I really like to make them. Here's where this is going..........I just saw that someone else is offering up one of my templates from their 4Shared account. I d/l the file out of curiosity and sure enough there it is, just the PSD file. TOU and preview are both gone.......why? I give them for free on my blog and will continue to do so. I left 2 comments for them on their 4Shared and wrote down their email address but what next? Do I bother emailing this person and letting them know? Is it worth the hassle for me, I mean mine are freebies.

Needless to say no freebie tonight, not sure what I want to do next. The photomasks are fun and I enjoy them but am having a bit of a block as what to do. The frames were fun too but wasn't in the mood to do any.

There's some news I'm waiting on...........will be sharing it in a couple of weeks. Don't want to say anything and jinx myself. Let's just say I'm very excited about it.

Completed some layouts today. Did one using Scrap Orchard's August Mega Back 2 School, it's a sweet kit with lots of goodies in it. If you want CU items, alphas, brag book, papers, elements.....it's big and fun, the colours are great.

I made a QP for the QP Olympics over at Sunshine Studio. This month the featured kit is Bohemian Rock Candy by Franziska and it is available for 20% off. Well the living room is finally put back together and looks good I might add. The pics I posted don't give it justice I'm afraid. Finished my 'accent' wall in the dining room as well, haven't move the furniture back yet............so tired of paint and rollers wanted absolutley nothing to do with it today.

In other news, my brother and his wife leave for their anniversay trip today. I volunteered to take my nieces for a few days............I must be crazy. The few days is Sunday to Wednesday and we're going to their house, why? Can you say nice big house with inground swimming pool? It should be interesting to say the least. Good news is I will DS with me for most of it any way.

Summer is close to being over......how do I know? Went to the sports shop today for skate sharpening and heat molding. He hits the ice for the first time this season on Saturday. Two ball games in the morning (wind up tourney) and then on the ice for an hour and a half. There are seven kids on his ball team all trying out for the same hockey team. We dropped lucky with game schedule or there would be a lot of us in quite a pickle!

On to the freebie. I tried something different today. Am losing the mojo for the photomask, need to refresh and rejuvenate. I created some frame masks instead, hope you like them. There are five in this set 4 x 6 and 5 x 7 size. The possibilities with these are endless. I will make some more photomask templates..........fall and Hallowe'en are coming :)

Please let me know what you think, should I keep making these? If you don't like them then I'll go back to the others. What you see in the preview is what you get in the file.

Yes I tried my hand at 'packaging'............need a lot of work. But I did make the paper by myself, LOL.

Another Room Painted and Another Free Template

I finished the one wall in the dining room I wanted to do, I now have my darker 'accent' wall.....great right? Well.................now I notice the ceiling looks out of whack so I need to paint that as well. Will this ever end? LOL. I could have done that today but am so tired of seeing paint that I'm dreaming widths of tape and paint colours.

As far as my layouts, I managed to get 2 completed today, one before starting to paint and one after. Also got a template ready BEFORE midnight today, LOL. Of course as I'm writing this on Tuesday evening ready for posting tomorrow morning.

Thank you for the suggestions for some words. I will get to work on the fall ones. In honour of school starting soon I made a school one for you. This one is different as you'll see but I did include the traditional 'mask' as I have been doing so you have options if you don't like my attempt at being creative. Send me a link or a copy of what you've done, I would love to see them. I have to admit I got a huge rush seeing one of my templates in use............what a feeling. If anyone would have told me 2 months ago that I woud be doing this I would have laughed at them. I've been dabbling in making papers.............we'll see, not sure any of those are ready for public consumption.

Here are my living room pictures--during, and after. Now the white walls you see in the before pictures are AFTER they have been skimmed. It's an old house with plaster walls so when I took the wallpaper off, lets just say part of the wall went with it. The colour is a taupe/gray, and I just love it! My camera is not a fancy one by any means so my indoor pics are not the best.

MIA & New Freebie

I have been gone for a few days, well technically I have been here just not at the computer. I will have much to catch up on once I can sit back down and get some work done. I have some CT layouts I have to do as well as some challenges to participate in. Scrapping news, I am now a guest Sunshine Sweetie as well! So I have my guest gig with Franziska and now a guest gig with Sunshine Studios..........hopefully one of them (or both) will turn permanent.

Here I go rambling on again when I was telling you why I was but wasn't here. Of course you all know my house saga..........I got my walls redone and have been busy priming and painting. 3 days!!! It's done and looks awesome!! I've been waiting for my living room to get finished for 2 years, now it's done, for someone else. Oh well I can enjoy it while I have it, right? The names of my colours are; Castle Stone, Duck Down and Canvas White, all Debbie Travis colours. The Canvas White is my built in book case and the trim in the hall and doors. I will take pictures and post them once it's completely put back together. Tomorrow I will be doing my long wall in the dining room, only because I want an accent wall and I so love that Castle Stone colour.

I worked on a template for you, it's not a photomask one as I've run out of ideas for words people would like............please suggest and I will gladly do more. Do you want seasons? Maybe that's what I'll do next, Fall, Autumn, Hallowe'en, School......ok that gives me 4 to play with.

Here's a layout I did with my template and I used Greedz new kit Veralyn. You can find this very soft and pretty kit at Sunshine Studio (I wasn't assigned to her this month, just really liked the kit and felt the colours worked with my template).
